2018 SMV Delegates' Assembly
Adrian Eggenberger looks back on his first year at the helm of the SMV. One of the key priorities was working toward sensible future model aircraft legislation in Switzerland. The SMV/AéCS working group was able to secure improvements to the EASA draft. Through numerous discussions with the FOCA, the foundation for a pragmatic Swiss solution was further developed.
Urbanization pressure, regulation, changing environmental conditions, and higher quality standards are just a few of the reasons why the demands placed on the SMV are constantly increasing. Higher expectations require greater effort, which, on this scale, can no longer be provided exclusively on a volunteer basis. Accordingly, two motions to increase the SMV membership fee were put to a vote.
The delegates faced the difficult task of balancing the strength of our association against the necessary costs, in the best interests of their members. Those eligible to vote did not make their decisions lightly and were, to our delight, well-prepared with specific questions.
To enable partial compensation for the Executive Board, an increase of five francs per year was approved. The additional proposed increase of another five francs—intended to expand external services and counteract the decline in reserves (funds)—was narrowly rejected.
The motions submitted by the NOS region within the deadline regarding amendments to the financial regulations concerning applications for support were approved.
With Swiss Olympic’s recognition and classification of model aircraft flying, it has become necessary to rethink the existing support program, standardize the selection criteria for the national teams, and adjust the squad structures. Peter Georgi explained the new sports development plan and successfully had it approved by the delegates’ assembly.
Max Schild was thanked amid loud applause and handed over his position to his unanimously elected successor, Reto Senn.

In his capacity as head of the Sports Division, Peter Georgi presented awards to the following clubs:
- F1 Group Hiking Trophy—Free Flight, MG Bern
- F2 Group Challenge Trophy (Tethered Flight), MG Breitenbach
- F3 RC Group Challenge Trophy, MG Münchenbuchsee
- F4 Group Challenge Cup (Scale), MG Interlaken
- F5 Group Challenge Cup (Electric), MV Pfäffikon
Youngest European/World Championship Participant (Arnold Degen Award): Loris Blickensdörfer.
The SMV congratulates the successful athletes! ■
