Model Aircraft Officials Back in School
Successful AeCS Model Aircraft Seminar at the Hahnenmoos Pass
With its 6,000 members, the AeCS model aircraft organization has become a rather complex and opaque structure. Today, the tasks assigned to group chairpersons and board members are diverse, ranging from introducing beginners to the sport to collaborating with government agencies and higher-level organizations. The organizers decided to transform the former site manager training courses—which over time had been repurposed as RC gliding camps—into a full-fledged seminar for officials. Led by Hans Schmid of Lucerne, this one-week course took place once again at the Hahnenmoos Pass. Over the course of the week, participants had the opportunity to address a wide variety of issues and topics. Organization and Structure of the AeCS with H.A. Wirz, Central Secretary; Model Aircraft Organization with W. Koelliker, MFK President; Aerodynamics with Rolf Girsberger, Wettingen; Law, Ernst Jäger, Basel; Free Flight, Hans
Schmid, Lucerne; scale modeling with Hugo Stocker, Bern, etc., etc.
Course and camp director Hans Schmid writes in his report: “It is likely due to the call for participants that such capable and interested people came. The cooperation, discipline, and camaraderie were outstanding and a great experience for me.”
Let’s hope that this promising start takes root and that our model aviation movement eventually attracts as many members as possible—people who not only know their own small specialty but can also maintain a broad perspective on the whole field.

The various challenges of model flying are addressed and discussed in depth. Practical advice and tips were also included.
