The Sulzer Model Aircraft Club Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

On the occasion of their traditional air show at the beautiful Hegmatten glider airfield in Winterthur, the Sulzer Model Aircraft Club celebrated its 50th anniversary. On Saturday evening, the energetic club invited guests from neighboring model flying groups to a cocktail reception, and on Sunday, the diverse air show—which is always well-attended by the public—took place once again. The Sulzer Model Flyers are fortunate to have access to the glider field’s superb infrastructure for air shows; on the other hand, the proximity of their own field requires them to exercise a high degree of consideration and flight discipline. As is well known, the Northeast Switzerland region awards loyalty bonuses to model flying clubs celebrating anniversaries: 500 francs after 25 years, 1,000 francs after 50 years, and 1,500 francs for the 75th anniversary. To date, the latter amount has only been paid to the MG Winterthur. These loyalty bonuses are not simply distributed indiscriminately but require information about the group’s activities as well as cooperation with the region.
