History of Graupner Remote Controls

Standard 10 (1954)

The Standart 10 is considered Graupner’s first remote control. Like the entire Standart series, it was manufactured by Klemm in Munich. Thanks to its chopper mode, the transmitter could be powered by a relatively inexpensive battery. However, the downside of the chopper circuit is high power consumption and a heavy, bulky transmitter design. The vacuum tube dates back to the 1940s and is also known as a “Wehrmacht tube.” The receiver features a “magic eye” for easier tuning, as seen in old radios. The 5-watt output power is about 50 times higher than what is still permitted today.

The Standard 10 is one of the rarest systems in existence. Due to its large dimensions, it wasn’t very practical and was quickly replaced by more portable transmitters. I would venture to say that only a handful of Standard 10 units have survived worldwide.
