BELL 47 G-2
“Shrap-shrap”: You can’t believe your ears; you hear someone say, “A helicopter!” Watching a Hirobo BELL 47 G-2 fly is a real pleasure! I believe that model helicopter building has taken another major step forward in this field. As we already know, there are several gasoline-powered helicopters on the market, so I can say with certainty that, at the moment, the BELL 47 G-2 from Hirobo is the most impressive.
| Main rotor: | Ø 1800 mm |
| Tail rotor: | Ø 310 mm |
| Fuselage length: | 1580 mm |
| Total weight with gyroscope: | approx. 7 kg |
| Motor: | 20 cm³ / HGE-20 EH with electronic ignition |
| Radio control: | 4–5 servos |
But enough with the technical details! The kit comes with everything you need, down to the smallest detail.
The instructions are written in English.
The individual assembly steps are clearly illustrated and present no difficulty.
The main rotor, tail rotor, and tail frame are almost completely assembled, which significantly reduces assembly time. The engine can be easily installed into the frame, since the carburetor, cooling fan, and clutch are already mounted. All drive shafts are made of metal and equipped with ball bearings, while the control linkages are fitted with ball joints: this naturally ensures reliable, play-free control.
Both the tail reduction gear and the variable-pitch mechanism are fully assembled within a metal housing. The main gearbox consists of a synthetic gear with helical teeth (equipped with a freewheel bearing for autorotation). This gear significantly dampens the noise of the mechanism.
The tail rotor drive is powered by a 1.6 mm steel wire via a helically toothed bevel gear. If this steel wire is installed properly, no failures should occur in the tail drive. Of course, to ensure safe operation of the BELL 47 G-2, all screws must be secured with Lop or Loctite!
The main rotor head is a true gem! It has been designed down to the finest detail; even the balancer shaft passes through a perfectly fitted rubber bushing in the center section and is supported by two needle bearings.
Thanks to the well-balanced stabilizer system, the helicopter can be controlled with centimeter-level precision. These features give the helicopter a flight profile that closely matches the original. The cockpit is made of “epoxy” and is almost completely finished. The few wooden parts are already finished and require minimal effort to glue them into the cockpit. The servos, receiver, and battery are located under the pilot’s seat, creating a true “scale cockpit.” The side openings for the engine, gearbox, etc., are covered by two plastic tanks that can be easily removed for both maintenance and adjustment. Both of the upper tanks are used for fuel, adding the finishing touch to the helicopter.
People always assume that a gasoline-powered helicopter doesn’t have enough power, but to prove otherwise, you have to have flown a BELL 47 G-2! Obviously, it’s not an aerobatic helicopter, but rather a work helicopter with enormous power, and its maneuverability allows it to compete with all other competing models.
Its operational reliability is superior to that of other models, and maintenance is minimal.
In my personal experience, this model is less expensive, even though the kit is pricier than those of other models.
We must also acknowledge its superior status in the field of model helicopters.
I am happy to assist with any questions or issues.
