Indoor Flying Championship
The competition, which took place on May 30 in the 23-meter-high atrium of the University of Zurich, also served as a qualifier for the World Championships to be held in Cardington, UK, at the end of August. A total of 7 indoor flyers participated.

The winner, René Butti from Dietikon, is only 17 years old. With his model weighing just 1.1 grams, he achieved a flight time of 19 min. 18 sec.

Werner Heise (3rd place), editor of *Modell-Flugsport*, wears special glasses for the fine details on the model.
Bottom center:
Dieter Siebenmann of Affoltern took second place.

Using a rod or a fishing line attached to a balloon (pictured), the slowly gliding models can be steered through the air so they can fly around obstacles. François Tapernoux (4th place) did not cover his model with microfilm, but rather with a silvery, shiny capacitor foil.
