7th RCS/G Friendship Fly-In and 3rd “Brillant-Treffen”
Organization: MG Interlaken
No fewer than 52 model airplane enthusiasts accepted MG Interlaken’s invitation to the 7th RCS/G Friendship Fly-In, including an impressive 35 who flew one of the many models from the “design stable” of Manfred Derschug, a member of MG Interlaken. In addition to the Friendship Fly-In, these 35 pilots also competed against each other in the “Brillant” model competition.
For those who have never attended: RCS/G means that RC gliders are launched using a combination of Perlon and rubber lines (100/40 m – max. 5 kg launch pull).
On August 7, an attempt was made for the first time to launch the models at one-and-a-half-minute intervals. This launch interval is highly unusual for flights with a high launch altitude of approximately 200 m. Thanks to the willing efforts of the launch assistants, timekeepers, and announcers, this was carried out precisely on schedule.
The “Brillant” model competition could not be completed in full, as a violent thunderstorm and downpour forced the event to be called off in the middle of the second round. Consequently, the scores achieved by the “Brillant” pilots in the friendly flying event had to be counted toward the results of the first round. The rankings clearly show how accurately and precisely some pilots flew. This was also essential for a good placement, because who would want to miss out on one of the coveted challenge trophies, commemorative prizes, or merchandise prizes?
